Tottenham confirmed the signing of Dutch midfielder Christian Eriksen from Champions Ajax for £11.5millon as boss Andre Villas-Boas continues to strengthen his squad.

Eriksen has emerged as one of the most highly-rated midfielders in Europe over the last couple of seasons with impressive performances for club and country.

The Dane became the third capture in 24 hours for manager Villas-Boas after Romanian defender VladChiriches and Roma midfielder Erik Lamela also agreed moves.

The Portuguese boss has been one of the busier managers in the league over the summer as he looks to try and avoid the events of the last term when his side missed out on a Champions League spot by one point to rivals Arsenal.

Chiriches was signed for a fee of £8.5million from Steaua Bucharest and Lamela is understood to have cost £25.7million, with possible add-ons of £4.2million.

The White Hart Lane club have broken their transfer record three times this summer by also bringing in Brazilian Paulinho for £17million and Valencia striker Roberto Soldado at a cost of £26million.

The Premier League outfit have splashed out a huge £105million during the transfer window and it is expected that they will now allow star Welsh winger Gareth Bale to make his world record move to Real Madrid in the near future.
