Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed he would like to sign two new strikers in the January transfer window.

The Hoops boss currently only has one striker to choose from, with Frenchman Odsonne Edouard leading the way.

The former Paris Saint-Germain youngster has scored eight goals in 14 Scottish Premiership matches and fans will be praying he stays fit.

At just 20 there is plenty of pressure on his shoulders, especially now Leigh Griffiths has taken a break from football due to personal reasons. Edouard helped his side through to the final 32 in the Europa League on Thursday night but Rodgers admits he needs more help up front.

“We might need two in January because we want three strikers,” Rodgers told Sky Sports. “We know we can’t go through the number of games we have at the intensity we play at with the same striker.

“It’s something we’ll definitely look at. It’s always been a focus but Leigh’s situation narrows it.” Rodgers is also waiting to see scan results after Ryan Christie injured his ankle during the clash with Red Bull Salzburg on Thursday night.

The 23-year-old has been in sensational form this season, scoring seven goals in his last 11 appearances.

However, there were fears that he had broken his ankle after injuring himself during a clash with Salzburg’s Takumi Minamino. He left Celtic Park on crutches and results should be confirmed early next week.

Hoops fans will be hoping he can bounce back and return for the knockout rounds of the Europa League, with Celtic 67.00 to win the competition.
