Tomas Berdych believes he can win his first Grand Slam title under the guidance of new coach Goran Ivanisevic.

The world number eight announced the partnership with Ivanisevic earlier this month and the duo will team up for the first time at this week’s Western & Southern Open.

Berdych is hoping the addition of the former Wimbledon champion to his coaching team will help him secure the first Grand Slam title of his career.

“I think that was the person I was waiting for. He’s the guy who found a way to break through.

So let’s see if it’s going to be the right thing, the right addition,” said Berdych about Ivanisevic.

The Czech ace, who reached his only major final at Wimbledon in 2010, turns 31 next month but believes his best years are still ahead of him.

“These days I think 30 is not an old age for tennis players.

If you look around, I think it’s still a pretty good time,” Berdych added.

“That’s why I’m just trying to look for all the possible help and just trying to improve myself as best as I can.”

The 18-time ATP Tour winner will be hoping to secure his first win of the year at this week’s event in Cincinnati to boost his confidence ahead of the final Grand Slam of 2016, the US Open, which is due to start later this month.
