World number one Novak Djokovic is confident he can maintain his form for the upcoming Olympic Games after he won the Rogers Cup final in Toronto.

The Serbian, 1.91 to win the 2016 men’s US Open, was hoping to complete the calendar Grand Slam this season but his hopes of doing that were ruined by Sam Querrey who beat him in the third round of Wimbledon.

His exit allowed Andy Murray to win his second title at SW19 and Djokovic allowed himself a short break to recuperate ahead of a busy autumn. He returned this week for the Rogers Cup and produced some stunning tennis throughout his matches.

Djokovic beat Kei Nishikori 6-3 7-5 on Sunday to win his 30th ATP Masters title and his fourth Rogers Cup.

He also extended his winning run over Nishikori to nine matches and the 29-year-old is hoping to carry his form into the Olympics this month.

“I felt great since I arrived in Canada, I felt the love from the crowd.

It wasn’t easy for the tournament not to have some of the top players who pulled out from the event but it was still a very successful tournament,” he told Sky Sports.

“First couple of matches I was still trying to find the rhythm on the court and my comfort zone in the shots and confidence level.

“I raised the level of my game as the tournament progressed and today was the best performance of the tournament at the right time so hopefully I can carry this win and this confidence into Rio as well.”
