Englishman Scott Quigg believes the likes of Amir Khan and Kell Brook would be better off fighting each other rather than moving up in weight to take on strong opposition.

British boxing has an abundance of talent at the moment and the opportunity for several home-grown contests has never been greater.

Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury have both been linked with a possible bout in the future while the name of David Haye has also been thrown into the mix.

Middleweights Chris Eubank Jnr and Billy Joe Saunders are another two fans are desperate to see face off whilst the trio of James DeGale, George Groves and Callum Smith could go head-to-head at some stage.

There are numerous British fights in the pipeline and that is why Quigg has found the decision from Khan and Brook to avoid each other hard to accept.

Khan moved up two weight divisions from welterweight to middleweight to fight Canelo Alvarez but it was the Mexican who recorded a devastating knockout blow.

Brook has now followed suit by jumping up 13 pounds for a clash with the highly-rated Gennady Golovkin at London’s 02 Arena on September 10.

Quigg has found this choice hard to fathom and believes the Sheffield-born star would be better placed taking on rival Khan in a grudge match.

“A lot of Britain’s fighters can fight each other and instead they are moving up to fight fights no one is giving them a chance to win,” he told BoxingScene.com.

“I think the mentality is ‘if I get beat no one expected me to win and I’m in a win-win situation and make some money off it’.”

Brook is priced at 6.00 to pick up a surprise win, the tie is at 26.00 while Golovkin is the firm 1.14 favourite to record a 36th win and remain unbeaten.
