Kell Brook must look to make his speed count on Saturday when he attempts to become the first man to defeat Gennady Golovkin, according to James DeGale.

The Sheffield-born fighter is taking a huge gamble as he steps up two weight divisions to take on the fearsome Golovkin at London’s O2 Arena.

Golovkin, who is unbeaten in 35 trips to the ring with 32 of his fights finishing inside the distance, will put his WBC, IBF and IBO middleweight titles on the line.

Brook, who will arrive in the nation’s capital as the underdog, also boasts a pretty impressive record and is undefeated in 36 bouts while he holds the IBF welterweight strap.

Fellow Brit DeGale will be keeping a close eye on events as he has been named as a possible future opponent for the man from Kazakhstan.

DeGale believes that the two will put on a good show and fears he may not get his chance to strip ‘GGG’ of his belts if Brook employs the right plan.

The 30-year-old feels that Brook’s speed could be the key ingredient to success and hopes his compatriot can cause an upset to become a two-weight world champion.

DeGale said: “I honestly think it’s going to be a good scrap. It’s hard to look past Golovkin, it’s hard to think that a welterweight is going to beat him.

“But Brook is a very, very big welterweight. There is not much size difference. He’s come from good pedigree, he’s unbeaten, he’s confident.

If he uses his feet, his speed, I think he could give him trouble. Hopefully he pulls it off, but it’s hard to look past Golovkin.

“You would have to go with the favourite, but I’m hoping Kell Brook can pull off the shock and beat him and become a two-time world champion, 100 per cent.”

Golovkin can be backed at 1.15 to retain his titles while Brook is priced at 5.50 to claim victory, with the draw at 29.00.
