Gennady Golovkin says he is “ready” to take on Kell Brook when the pair meet on September 10 in London.

The unbeaten duo are set to go head-to-head at the O2 Arena for the Kazakh’s WBC, IBF and IBO middleweight titles, and Golovkin’s extra power means he is the early favourite.

Brook was only offered the fight after GGG’s camp failed to reach an agreement with the Eubanks and he has spent the last few weeks adding muscle mass to step up to middleweight.

The Sheffield fighter has had no issues putting the weight on and only just crept inside the limit when the pair were required to weigh in 30 days before their bout last week.

Golovkin says he is intrigued to see what tactics Brook will adopt and whether or not he will try and use his greater speed around the ring.

The champion admits he rates his opponent highly but says he is already in prime condition and is confident he will be able to retain his belts.

“I know that Kell is a good fighter, but I know my style and I am ready,” Golovkin told Sky Sports News HQ.

“I am very interested in what Kell will do. He will not fight like a street fighter because that would be a very short fight. If he is moving and dancing, maybe longer because I know I need time.”

Golovkin is currently the 1.14 favourite to win next month in London, with the draw 26.00 while Brook is priced at 6.00 to take the belts.
