Kenyan long distance runner Bedan Karoki is confident he has found the right formula to beat Mo Farah at this summer’s Olympics.

The 25-year-old will compete against Farah in the 10,000 metres in Rio de Janeiro, alongside compatriots Paul Tanui and Geoffrey Kamworor.

Karoki finished fifth in the race at the London Games four years ago, but he insists the Kenyans have now found a way to beat reigning Olympic champion Farah, who they regard as being at his best during the final lap of a race.

He said: “He has always beaten us in the last lap, but we have worked on that and hope to turn the tables against him this time in Rio.

We are very good in lapping – indeed much better than him – but he waits until it matters most, and that is what we have worked on this time.”

The 2016 World Half Marathon silver medallist is confident the Kenyans can finish ahead of Farah in Brazil, and he sees the Brit as their only threat to completing a clean-sweep of medals in the event.

He added: “He is the only major threat and I am sure we will beat him.” The Kenyan trio will face a tough test if they are to beat Farah, who claimed glory in both the 5,000 metres and 10,000 metres at the London Games, before repeating that feat at the 2015 World Championships in Beijing.
