Welterweight Shawn Porter has claimed Amir Khan would beat fellow Brit Kell Brook if they agree to a fight in 2016.

Sheffield fighter Brook has been looking for a fight against Khan for many years and the latter admitted talks have taken place in recent weeks.

Khan is adamant Brook must have another fight at world level to prove he’s on the same level as him, despite the Sheffield hero holding the IBF welterweight crown.

Brook won his title in 2014 after beating Porter via a points decision in Carson, California. Porter, who is now planning to fight again in September, has since beaten Erick Bone and Adrien Broner but he insists his focus is on the winner of Brook vs Khan.

Speaking about that possible matchup, he insists Khan will be too good for Brook.

He told behindthegloves.com: “It doesn’t matter who it is, I’ll always go with them over Kell Brook. Normally I put my biased opinion aside but with him, I’m not. I think Khan beats him.

“It’d be a good fight. If I was guaranteed the winner I’d go over there, show my face at ringside and be ready to take care of the winner.

“It’s where I feel I belong. Fighting anyone in the top five. That includes Amir Khan, Keith Thurman, Timothy Bradley, Ruslan Provodnikov and Marcos Maidana, even though he hasn’t fought in a year. This 147lbs division is stacked.”
