Trainer Liz Doyle has admitted that she may run Without Limites in the Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival after his strong performance at Punchestown.

Without Limites charged to victory under jockey Finny Maguire on Wednesday in the Family Saturday At The Festival Flat Race over two miles.

He beat Cadeau Du Bresil by 12 lengths to back up a strong start to his career. The gelding has yet to finish outside the top two in 2016, after he came second at Leopardstown back in January.

He finished as runner-up to Aidan O’Brien’s Champion Bumper candidate Aspen Colorado on that day and connections are excited by his prospects.

The four-year-old carries the colours of the Goliath Syndicate, who saw Le Vent D’Antan compete in the 2013 Champion Bumper at the Festival.

Although the preference is to avoid Cheltenham in March, Doyle admits that it is a serious possibility given his strong performances.

“He’s improved a good notch from Leopardstown,” she told Sky Sports.

“We were afraid there would be no gallop with just three runners so we decided the best thing was to go on. Finny said it felt like he was doing a hack canter, which is a good sign.

“He may run again this season but whether that is at Cheltenham or not, I don’t know.

“We’ll have to have a think about it. I don’t think Cheltenham is the best place to go with a four-year-old, although this horse is a bit more robust than Le Vent D’Antan.”
