Colin Tizzard’s Cue Card will bid again for the ‘Triple Crown‘ as the £1million bonus is to be renewed by the Jockey Club.

Tizzard’s star came agonisingly close last season with wins at Haydock and Kempton but literally fell at the final hurdle, the Cheltenham Gold Cup, over three miles two furlongs 70 yards.

Cue Card was travelling well and in contention at Cheltenham in March but took a heavy fall at the third fence from home, with Don Cossack going on to claim the victory.

“This is brilliant news. That’s what he’ll be aiming at this time,” Joe Tizzard, the horse’s assistant trainer, told the BBC following confirmation the bonus is to be renewed.

The first race takes place at Haydock on November 19 over three miles and 24 yards. The King George VI Chase at Kempton on December 26 is the second leg of the ‘Triple Crown’, with the Gold Cup set to take place on March 17 at the Cheltenham Festival.

Cue Card is currently rated at 11.00 ahead of the Gold Cup and Don Cossack is the 7.00 favourite, ahead of 8.00 shots Thistlecrack and Vautour.
