Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg is looking to follow up his podium finish at last weekend’s Indian Grand Prix with another top-three result in Abu Dhabi on Sunday.
The German had endured a disappointing second half to the Formula One campaign with no podium places since his win at the British Grand Prix back in June.
However, Rosberg’s second place behind winner and reigning champion Sebastian Vettel in India has given him a new lease of life, while it also moved Mercedes four points clear in second place behind champions Red Bull in the Constructors’ Championship with just three races remaining.
And he wants to keep picking up points to ensure Mercedes keep ahead of Ferrari and, to a lesser extent, Lotus, in the fight to be runners-up.
Rosberg said: “The Abu Dhabi weekend is a real favourite of mine and it’s a great event for the fans, our partners and the team.
“It’s also very unique as a twilight race and working on a different timetable makes a nice change from the usual race weekend.
“On the track, we will be looking to continue the pace and performance of the car that we saw in India and hopefully the result.
“It was a really positive weekend for me and I’m pleased that the team now has renewed momentum in our fight for second place.”
