Red Bull team principal Christian Horner expects his team to face a difficult challenge during the next two races in Belgium and Italy.

The Milton Keynes-based team went into the summer break on the back of their best performance of the season in Hungary as drivers Daniil Kvyat and Daniel Ricciardo finished second and third respectively at the Hungaroring.

Horner however is unsure if the team can repeat that achievement at either Spa or Monza where the power of the Mercedes and Ferrari engines should win out and he believes their next chance of securing a podium finish will be at the Singapore Grand Prix on September 20.

He said: “They’re going to be much more challenging than Hungary and Singapore is probably our next opportunity to shine.”

The 41-year-old admitted that the team’s best chance of springing a surprise in Belgium is if conditions are wet and he believes it is important that they are in a position to capitalise on any slip ups should they materialise during the race.

He continued: “We’re going to keep pushing, keep developing with the car though. You never know, it could be wet in Spa. You’ve got to be in a position on those days when it doesn’t go right for others.”

Red Bull are currently fourth in the Constructors’ Championship race and they find themselves some 55 points behind Williams in the current standings although if they could repeat their heroics of Budapest during the next race then they will fancy their chances of catching the Oxfordshire-based side.

Russian driver Kvyat, who finished second in Hungary, is available at 13.00 to finish in the top three once again at Spa, whilst team mate Ricciardo is on offer at 12.00.
