Sebastian Vettel is upbeat on Ferrari’s chances at this weekend’s Chinese Grand Prix after the Italian outfit achieved a one-two finish during practice two on Friday.

Kimi Raikkonen ended the day top of the pile at the Shanghai International Circuit with a time of 1:36.896 to finish one tenth of a second ahead of Vettel on what was a successful day for the Maranello-based team.

Mercedes duo Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton finished third and fourth respectively despite claiming the top two positions during practice one, while Daniel Ricciardo led the chasing pack for Red Bull as he finished fifth quickest.

It is Ferrari however that will be happiest with their days work in Shanghai and four-time world champion Vettel believes the team can mount a serious challenge to Mercedes over the weekend, although he is aware there is still a lot of race action to come.

He told a news conference: “It depends what the others are doing, but I think if we get everything right we could be closer. But then it is only Friday today so I wouldn’t stress, I wouldn’t put too much importance in the times today.”

Rosberg has won both races so far this season for Mercedes, although Raikkonen did break the British team’s stranglehold on the top two positions in Bahrain, as he finished in second place.

Rosberg is the 1.91 favourite to make it three straight wins this weekend, while Hamilton is available at 3.80 and Vettel and Raikkonen are on offer at 5.00 and 9.00 respectively.
