Lotus team boss Eric Boullier admitted he is doing everything in his power to keep hold of star driver Kimi Raikkonen for 2014 Formula One campaign.

Since taking a two-year hiatus from F1 to enjoy a spell in the world rally championships, the Finnish racer has been a breath of fresh air with his no-nonsense radio conversations to his team and post-race interviews.

Raikkonen’s performances on the track have also been something to admire, as he currently sits in third place in the World Drivers.

Championship as the halfway stage of the 2013 campaign approaches with the Hungarian Grand Prix on Sunday.

The 33-year-old has only won one grand prix this season in Australia but has stood on the podium four times since, finishing second in all of those successes.

Raikkonen’s displays this term have not gone unnoticed and he has been linked with a move to Red Bull for next season, with Australian Mark Webber revealing this will be his last campaign in F1.

Boullier is a big admirer of Riakkonen?s talents though and is determined to keep the 2007 world champion with Lotus.

He said: “Lotus is a desirable place to be. We know there’s been a lot of talk about Kimi’s future, and we all know Kimi is an individual and he will make his decision in his own time.

“Naturally, we want him to continue in the sport and continue with Lotus, so we’re doing everything we can do to make that happen.”
