Red Bull team principal Christian Horner insists his team will continue to fight as they look to try and catch Mercedes.

After a disastrous off-season, Red Bull are slowly making progress as they try to defend their Constructors’ Championship, but reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel is still struggling to adjust to his life in his RB10 and once again failed to find speed at the Chinese Grand Prix on Sunday.

The German was beaten by team-mate Daniel Ricciardo, with the Australian 20 seconds quicker, while Vettel has also been out-qualified by Ricciardo in three of the four races so far this season, and Mercedes have pulled away.

Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton are over 30 points in front of Fernando Alonso who sits in third, and at the moment Ricciardo looks the more likely Red Bull driver to challenge for the title.

Mercedes are 97 points in front of Red Bull in the Constructors’ Championship but Horner is determined to challenge the runaway leaders.

“We’ve got to take the fight to them and we’re going to give it everything. I believe we can take the championship to them but we can’t concede too much more ground,” he told Sky Sports F1.

“We were 22kmh slower on the straights and that’s where we have to improve – and hopefully there will be some steps on that for Barcelona.”

Mercedes are currently the 1.03 favourites to win the Constructors’ Championship, with the rest of the field at 11.00.
