Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane knows his side must improve after they were beaten 3-1 by Paris Saint-Germain in their opening match of pre-season.
Los Blancos were playing in their first game since claiming Champions League glory in May, but they were comprehensively beaten in the International Champions Cup match at the Ohio Stadium.
Jonathan Ikone’s early goal and a brace from Thomas Meunier put PSG in a commanding position, and despite Marcelo’s late penalty, Zidane knows his side still have plenty of work to do ahead of the new La Liga season
He said: “We can’t have this result happening again, but what we have to do and what we’re trying to do, is to give our all when we play.
“We’re currently in the preparation phase and we’ve got to get up to speed, that’s what pre-season is for.
We know that the LaLiga season is a very long one and that we’ve got to make a strong start.”
The former France international expects his side to improve over the coming weeks, as they aim to return to the same kind of form that saw them claim their 11th European crown at the end of last season.
He added: “We’re still in the preparation phase and it’s to be expected that we’re lacking in some areas. We’ve got to work more and make things come as second nature, that’s something that will happen gradually.”
The Madrid giants are next in action when they take on Chelsea in Michigan on Saturday, and they are available at 2.15 to win that match, while the Premier League outfit are on offer at 2.88 and the draw is priced at 3.40.
