England manager Roy Hodgson says his job is to deal with “dreams” and his is to help his side win the World Cup in Brazil this summer.

At odds of 30.00 of course there are a host of teams more fancied to lift the trophy in South America but that is not stopping Hodgson dreaming of success.

For now the experienced manager is keeping a close eye on the Premier League and the potential stars who can earn a seat on the plane to Brazil this summer.

England were dealt a difficult group which includes fellow European giants Italy who can be backed at 28.00 to win the tournament, along with Uruguay and Costa Rica.

Conditions at the Arena Amazonia, where humidity can reach 95%, for their opening group game against the Azzurri will certainly be an acid test for Hodgson’s men.

However, despite the odds stacked against England ahead of the major tournament, the boss is not willing to go there and make up the numbers, as the Three Lions go in search of their first title since the famous success of 1966.

He told Sky Sports: “We football people, I suppose we deal to some extent in dreams.

“It would be foolish I think if you were too pragmatic or too bogged down by the reality of the situation.

“When you put your head down on the pillow at night, you image your team getting the greater success, playing very well and coming back as heroes.”
