Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg have issued a hands-off warning to potential suitors of midfielder Kevin De Bruyne.

The Belgium international moved to Germany from Chelsea last season having failed to secure regular first-team football under Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge.

His exceptional form for Wolfsburg has again brought the 24-year-old to the attention of some big clubs, with Manchester City rumoured to be interested in bringing the player back to England while Bayern Munich and Paris St Germain are also said to be monitoring his situation.

Wolfsburg’s director of sport, Klaus Allofs, says they are not going to be forced into selling a player that is under contract until 2019 and he confirmed the club are already looking to offer De Bruyne an improved contract.

“Kevin has a contract until 2019, so the signal has already been sent out. He will stay with us. We’ve said we will look at his contract,” he said.

“The aim is to take into account financially Kevin’s extraordinary development and I think we will reach an agreement here very quickly.”

De Bruyne scored 16 goals and set up 29 more in a hugely impressive season at Wolfsburg.

He hit the net in the German Cup Final win over Borussia Dortmund and was the key performer as his side chased home champions Bayern Munich in the league.

With the club set to play Champions League football next season for the first time since 2009, Allofs is making it clear they are not about to release their star man without a major fight.

Belgium are 11.00 to win the Euro 2016 Finals in France next summer with world champions Germany currently 4.00.
