Former France internationals Jerome Rothen and Thierry Henry have reacted to the latest development surrounding Lionel Messi at PSG.

The former Barcelona captain got booed by his fans when his name was mentioned before the kick-off against Lyon as they suffered another home defeat in the league.

Their commitment of Messi remains questioned as his current deal expires in the summer.
Most of the fans seem unhappy with his contribution to the team. He has only been able to score 18 goals and 17 assists this season.

Rothen, on his part, feels that t frequent visits to Barcelona have put his commitment to Pathe Paris club in doubt.
Having arrived at Parc des Princes in the summer of 2021 amid much fanfare, the seven-time Ballon has seen his relationship with a passionate fan base in France sour Messi has registered 18 goals and 17 assists.

After leading Argentina to World Cup glory in Qatar, many expect Messi to continue with the meteoric form, but he has not always performed at his best for Paris Saint-Germain and refused to sever ties with Barcelona. This has made speculation build regarding a potential retracing of steps to Camp Nou as a free agent.

Speaking with RMC Sport, Rothen said the fans are highly disappointed with his contribution over his two seasons at PSG.
While he usually goes to Barcelona whenever he has a few days off, the former PSG midfielder said he has never gotten used to Paris and what PSG represents.

After PSG suffered a Champions League last-16 exit at Bayern Munich’s hands, more questions are being asked about Messi’s future as he has stalled on signing a new contract and is linked with clubs in Spain, MLS, and the Middle East.
Henry, on his part, described the situation as embarrassing.

Speaking with Amazon Prime after Paris Saint-Germain’s 1-0 loss to Lyon on Sunday, Henry said he would like to see him finish his career at Barcelona, in Europe.
