Theo Walcott believes his developing partnership with Alexis Sanchez can only bode well for Arsenal’s chances of success this season.

The Englishman was the hero for the Gunners on Wednesday, netting both goals as they grabbed their first Champions League win of the campaign with a 2-0 victory over Basel.

Sanchez provided the assists for each of Walcott’s strikes and their display came just days after they terrorised Chelsea together.

With the summer signing of Shkodran Mustafi, Arsene Wenger’s men now seem a far more secure unit in defence and that appears to be reflected throughout the remainder of the side.

Walcott is now 6.00 to open the scoring on Sunday at Burnley, a game the Gunners are the 1.40 favourites to win, with the draw 4.75 and the Clarets priced at 8.50.

The 27-year-old says he is enjoying the understanding he has struck up with the Chilean and believes that if they can both stay fit; they could well have a huge influence on the eventual outcome of Arsenal’s season.

“It’s getting a good sort of partnership there, but it’s not just that, the whole team seems to be clicking,” Walcott told the club’s official website.

“That combination between me and Alexis, it’s boding well but it’s obviously still very early into the season, so hopefully we can all stay fit and it’s going to be a good run.”

He added: “We seem to sort of know when we play off each other quite well. If he comes short, I go long and we’ve just got a good sort of combinations.”
