Theo Walcott has revealed that he wants to re-establish himself as a right winger at Arsenal rather than as a centre forward.

The England international has spent the majority of his career as a wide man, but has previously stated his desire to play as a striker for the Gunners.

The 27-year-old has since failed to establish himself as a front man, scoring just five goals in 28 Premier League appearances last season, and has now confirmed that he wants to focus on playing as a right winger during the upcoming campaign.

He said: “I want to make my position on the right – that’s where I know where I am now. I’ve told the manager that I want to be known for playing on the right again, although I can play up front”

The former Southampton, who was left out of Roy Hodgson’s England squad for this summer’s European Championship, is now keen to create an identity for himself, as he bids to earn a regular starting birth for both club and country.

He added: “I want to know where I want to play. The manager has said I can play up front. It depends on what game it is. I know I can do a job up front as well as on the right.”

Walcott has scored 85 goals in 334 appearances for Arsenal since arriving at the club in 2006 and he is available at 67.00 to finish as the Premier League’s top scorer this season.
