Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny is confident his side can lift the Premier League title this season, but he admits they must maintain their current form to have a chance.

The Gunners continued their fine run by travelling to the Cardiff City Stadium and overcoming Malky Mackay’s men 3-0 on Saturday, with Aaron Ramsey grabbing a brace. The Welsh midfielder took his tally for club and country to 15 this season, as he helped Arsenal to their 10th win in 13 games.

Arsene Wenger is targeting his first trophy since 2005, when his side beat Manchester United in the FA Cup and, following the weekend’s action, Arsenal sit four points clear of Chelsea at the top of the Premier League table.

Szczesny is remaining grounded with the season only four months old, but the Polish keeper believes Arsenal can win the title if they maintain their current form.

“We’re in a position that we’d like to be in for as long as possible,” he said. “But it really doesn’t matter where we are now. It matters where we are in May, and if we carry on like we are now then I’m certain we’ll be top in May.

“But we have a lot of work to do, a lot of tough games to win. There’s no point in putting pressure on ourselves. We just want to enjoy every single game, that’s bringing the best out of us and I don’t think that will change.”

He added: “We’ll have to focus on the next game against Hull and keep on winning. If we want to win the league then we must do our job very professionally to beat teams like Hull.”
