Swansea’s new signing Franck Tabanou has wasted no time in revealing that he is fully focused on securing a regular starting role for the 2015-16 campaign.

Tabanou agreed to join Swansea from Saint Etienne earlier this week for a fee of £3.5million to become the club’s second addition of the summer, following Andre Ayew.

The 26-year-old plays mainly at left-back but has also featured further forward in a left-sided midfield role for his former employers.

Boss Garry Monk opted to bring in Tabanou as competition for current full-back Neil Taylor, who penned a new deal at the end of last season.

Taylor had a lack of competition last term following the departure of Ben Davies and Monk is keen to make sure he has strength in depth.

The former Toulouse man admitted he was delighted to have put pen-to-paper at the Liberty Stadium as he looks to embark on a new challenge.

The defender revealed he is eager to repay the faith shown in him by Monk and hopes to tie down a starting berth by impressing during pre-season.

Tabanou said: “I’m very happy to become a Swansea player

“I’m just arriving at the club and everything is new, of course. The manager and the club signed me because they trust me.

I’m going to prove that I can start. The short-term ambition here is to become a starting player.

“I know the club has a lot of ambition and I want to grow with the club. This is an important stage of my career. I’m looking forward to playing in the stadium and I hope to make the fans happy.”
