Stoke defender Bruno Martins Indi has urged his team-mates to focus on the positives as they prepare to travel to take on Manchester United on Sunday.

Mark Hughes’ men have endured a terrible start to the 2016-17 campaign and currently sit one place off the foot of the Premier League table.

The Potters have claimed just two points from their opening six fixtures and Jose Mourinho’s United provide their next test.

Stoke, who can be backed at 3.50 to be relegated, haven’t claimed a league win at Old Trafford in over 40 years and could well find themselves in serious trouble if that run continues.

However, Martins Indi insists the atmosphere is not all doom and gloom and feels the squad can feel positive following their last outing.

West Brom netted in stoppage-time through Salomon Rondon to snatch a first win of the season away from Stoke at the bet365 Stadium.

The Dutchman, who joined on loan in the summer, admitted it was frustrating to miss out on all three points last weekend.

Martins Indi said: “It was disappointing for us last weekend to concede the goal so late on and deny us the victory that we were looking for.

“But, I saw so many positives on the day and I have seen many more since, in training, too, and that gives us all great reason for optimism.

“I believe if we keep doing the positive things and correct the one or two little areas that haven’t been quite as positive then our position in the table will soon change.

“Manchester United will be a big test for us, just as every game is in football, but I am looking at it positively.

“I know Jose Mourinho from my time in the game and I think I have won one and lost one against him, but we are playing all of Manchester United and not just Jose.”
