Sunderland striker Steven Fletcher insists he has not thought about his future as he tries to focus on improving his form for the club.

The Black Cats, 2.10 to be relegated this season, fell to defeat on the opening weekend as they lost 4-2 away to Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

Fletcher stepped off the bench last week to grab one of the consolation goals for Dick Advocaat’s men although his future is still up in the air.

The former Wolves frontman has struggled to find the back of the net on a regular basis since his £12million move from Molineux. He now has less than 12 months remaining on his current deal and Celtic have reportedly showed an interest in his services.

Sunderland sold Connor Wickham due to having too many strikers, according to Advocaat, so Fletcher could be on his way before the end of the transfer window.

However, instead of focusing on his next career move, Fletcher is just concentrating on his form and the club’s next match against Norwich.

He told the Northern Echo: “I haven’t really thought about it to be honest. I’ve got other things on my mind trying to stay fit and score goals.

“I’ve had a few talks with the club, but nothing serious as yet. They’re probably waiting to see whether I stay fit or not!

“It’s always nice to get off the mark early doors, especially in the first game of the season. I was happy with that, although obviously the result was very disappointing.

“But there are still a fair few games to go.”
