Tottenham winger Nacer Chadli has backed team-mate Dele Alli to star for England at Euro 2016.

The teenager has taken the Premier League by storm since arriving at White Hart Lane from MK Dons last summer, with Saturday’s wonder strike against Crystal Palace meaning he has scored six goals in 21 appearances during his debut top-flight season.

The midfielder has also made his England debut and scored his first international goal during the campaign, and Spurs team-mate Chadli is now backing the youngster to have a huge impact for the Three Lions at this summer’s European Championship.

He said: “The way he is playing this season I think he is going to be picked for England and after it is then up to him to show his quality. He can do it Premier League and also European Championship.”

Chadli, who is likely to be part of Belgium’s squad for Euro 2016, believes Alli has the potential to be a truly great player and he has been impressed by the maturity of the 19-year-old since his arrival in north London.

He added: “It seems like he has a lot of experience and he’s a very young player with a lot of potential. He’s working hard and I think he will be a great player.”

Alli has won four caps for Roy Hodgson’s side to date and he will be hoping to add to that tally when the Three Lions take on Russia, Wales and Slovakia in Group B of Euro 2016.

England are 1.91 to top Group B and are on offer at 1.11 to secure qualification for the knockout stages.
