Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino was happy with his side’s 1-0 win over Sheffield United but knows it’s only half-time in their two-legged Capital One Cup semi-final.

An Andros Townsend penalty in the 74th minute was the only difference between the two sides on Wednesday night, as the League One outfit made life very difficult for their Premier League opponents at White Hart Lane.

With the second leg to take place at Bramall Lane on January 28, Pochettino knows his side will be in for another tough match in South Yorkshire, based on what he saw from the battling Blades at The Lane.

The Argentine tactician told Sky Sports: “We’re happy for the result because it’s 1-0, but we need to go and play the second leg and we need to win again.

“We need to go and be focused and try to win. We expected a very tough game, and it was a tough game.

“Sheffield United play very aggressive in the first half and cut every action, played narrow and deep too. It was difficult for us, we don’t find the best position to create more chances.

“I think it was a very, very difficult game, but we were aware of that.”

Spurs will soon turn their attentions back to important Premier League matters when they take on West Brom at The Hawthorns on January 31.

Tottenham are 2.42 to win, 3.10 to draw and 2.99 to lose against the Baggies in the West Midlands.
