Celtic forward Patrick Roberts insists his side can silence the doubters and enjoy a positive campaign in the Champions League this season.

Roberts is looking to hit the ground running once again after joining the club on a season-long loan deal on Monday.

He left Manchester City for the Bhoys for the second successive season, although he was unable to help Celtic deliver in Europe last season.

Brendan Rodgers’ men were dumped out of the Champions League in the group stages last season but they qualified in strong fashion this time around.

They have been handed a tough group after being drawn against Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Anderlecht.

Despite the odds being stacked against them, Roberts believes they can compete with Europe’s best teams. He told Celtic View: “Having played at Celtic, I wanted them to get through but obviously when I got the opportunity to come back I wanted them to get through even more! “You have to play these big teams as that is why they are in the competition.

Any team you play against, you have to be on your game – this is the Champions League. “I think we have the capacity to do good things in the Champions League.

We have to wait and see but the belief in the squad from last year is high and the momentum will be high. We will go into that game in good heart.

Celtic is a tough place to come to and we will make it hard for anyone.” Celtic will host PSG on September 12 and they are priced at odds of 11.00 to win, with the draw 6.00, while PSG are 1.25 favourites.
