Former Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp believes coach Tim Sherwood should be given the manager’s job at White Hart Lane on a permanent basis.
Sherwood has impressed as a member of the backroom staff at the north London outfit, having enjoyed a spell as a player with Spurs before hanging up his boots.
Following the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas on Monday, a host of names have been linked with the job at the Lilywhites, with the likes of Fabio Capello, Glenn Hoddle and Jurgen Klinsmann all being suggested.
Redknapp himself was another name linked with a return to White Hart Lane but the QPR boss believes Sherwood should be given the job, with fellow coach Les Ferdinand as his assistant.
He told The Sun: “Tim should get the job permanently and work alongside Les Ferdinand.
“Together they are old-school Spurs and would do a tremendous job.
“I brought them both back to the club (as coaches) because they understand the place. They are great coaches and don’t forget, Tim was captain at Blackburn when they won the league in 1995.”
Sherwood will be looking to impress in his first game in charge as caretaker boss when Spurs host London rivals West Ham United in the Capital One Cup on Wednesday night.
The Hammers thumped Spurs 3-0 at White Hart Lane the last time these two teams met in the Premier League and Sherwood will be determined to prove his credentials.
