In-form Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey insists he always knew he could prove people wrong and become of the key players at the club.
The Wales international has had a sublime season so far for the Gunners, scoring 13 goals in all competitions to help Arsene Wenger’s side continue their fine start.
Ramsey’s position in the squad had looked uncertain after a difficult spell since his career-threatening double leg break suffered at Stoke in February 2010.
The 22-year-old has turned his career around and admits he is relishing life as part of a midfield that includes Mesut Ozil of Germany, England’s Jack Wilshere and Spain international Santi Cazorla.
“It is going really well for me at the moment,” Ramsey said in an interview with Ian Wright on his Absolute Radio Rock ‘N’ Roll Football Show.
“You know I am really pleased with the way I am playing and the team is playing. I had to overcome the mental side of what I was going through.
“It was really difficult for me, but you just have to keep trying to believe in yourself and your ability, and that you will show everybody what you are capable of in the end.
“I had a few conversations with the boss and with my family and just went back to playing the way that I knew I could – getting stuck in again.
“Hopefully now I have changed a lot of people’s opinions again.”
