Javier Hernandez has revealed his agent is working hard to find him a new club after West Ham United told the forward he is free to leave this summer.

West Ham spent a reported £16million to sign Hernandez from Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2017 but his second stint in England has not been as fruitful as the first, when he played for Manchester United.

The Mexico international has scored 15 goals from 53 Premier League appearances for the Hammers and he has struggled to cement down a regular spot in the first team, making just 30 starts during his two seasons in London.

With Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez expected to make the move to the London Stadium, Hernandez’s opportunities are likely to be further reduced in the 2019/20 campaign. It was revealed back in May that West Ham were willing to listen to offers for the forward this summer and the Mexican has now confirmed his team are actively searching for new employers.

Hernandez said: “[My agent] is searching for a club, if we can move. If not, I will stay with West Ham easy, happy. I have one year left, but West Ham and I have decided it would just be easier to go out.”

Several clubs have been linked with a move for Hernandez although it appears a return to Germany could be on the cards following reports a couple of unnamed Bundesliga sides are looking at him.

West Ham kick off the new season with a home clash against defending champions Manchester City on August 10 and the hosts are 9.50 outsiders to pick up the win, a draw is priced at 6.00 while the Citizens are firm 1.30 favourites.
