Liverpool’s new goalkeeper Alisson is predicting a “great season” for Jurgen Klopp’s side following his record £65million transfer from Roma.

The 25-year-old Brazil international became the world’s most expensive keeper when he made the move to Anfield earlier in the summer, although he has only just linked up with the squad having enjoyed a break following his country’s World Cup campaign in Russia.

Alisson and compatriot Roberto Firmino both arrived at the Reds’ pre-season camp in France on Tuesday and took part in training with the rest of the squad.

And, as he looks to feature in the side’s final friendly games against Napoli on Saturday and Torino next Tuesday, Alisson is already relishing the new season, which gets under way against West Ham at Anfield on August 12.

He said: “Although these two weeks don’t seem like a long time, it’s enough for us to be ready for our first game against West Ham.

“We’ll play two friendlies before this game and I’m sure the hard work the squad have put in so far is going to help me become a member of the squad as quickly as possible so that I am 100 per cent ready for our first game to kick off the Premier League in a good way.

“My first impression tells me it won’t be difficult for me here – it’s a great squad formed by great players and brilliant professionals. I’m sure it’s going to be a great season for us all.”

Liverpool, who are 5.00 to win the Premier League in 2018-19, are priced at 1.30 to start with a victory, while the Hammers are 10.00 and the draw is 5.25.
