Lucas Digne sees no reason why Everton cannot challenge at the top end of the Premier League this season after strengthening during the summer.
Everton are 4.75 to secure a top-six finish this season and 15.00 to claim a top-four spot.
The Goodison Park club ended up in eighth place last term, 12 points adrift of the top six, but they have brought in a number of new faces during the summer window – including Moise Kean from Juventus and Alex Iwobi from Arsenal.
Everton enjoyed a strong end to the previous campaign as they lost just two of their final 11 fixtures. The Merseyside outfit also picked up some big results against the top six during that run as they beat Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United, as well as claiming draws against Liverpool and Spurs.
Digne feels his side can challenge the top order in the Premier League, if they can maintain the momentum they found at the end of last term. “We have a big ambition this year. We are building something,” Digne told Sky Sports.
“We started last year with some new players and now we [also] have [more] new players coming in. They help us. “We are building something to be better and better. I think we can do something this year.”
He added: “When you look at last season, we finished well and we played well against the biggest teams. “I think we can do something this year. If we start better than last year maybe we can finish up.”
Everton entertain Watford on Saturday and they are 1.75 to pick up all three points. A win for the Hornets is 4.75 and a draw is 3.80.
