Blackburn boss Paul Lambert is confident his side can back up their win over Middlesbrough by beating Burnley on Saturday.

Rovers are 4.00 to take all three points at Turf Moor and Lambert has his sights set on a win which would all but end any lingering relegation fears.

Burnley are in fine form as they bid for the title and automatic promotion but having seen off promotion chasers Boro in midweek, Lambert insists his side can approach their trip to the Clarets with no fear.

“It’s a game I’m looking forward to,” he told the Lancashire Telegraph. “I’ve been involved in some magic derbies myself, but this one is new for me so I don’t know what to expect, but what I do know is that form goes out of the window. It’s just on that given day.

“We are up against a really good side but we are playing well enough to go and try and win.”

Having been relegation contenders for much of the season, Blackburn now seem destined for a mid-table finish and Lambert feels with investment in the summer he can turn the Ewood Park outfit into promotion hopefuls.

He added: “We’re getting there slowly but the way this club moves in the summer is going to be really important. I honestly believe if we get a fair crack at it then things can happen. The summer window is going to be massive for this club.

“For my own ambition it’s important to try and get this club fighting to get out of this league. That’s what I came here for; to get out of the league at the earliest attempt.”

Burnley are 4.50 to win the Championship outright this season.
