Raheem Sterling believes the quality within the Manchester City squad means he is only going to improve after finally completing his move to the club from Liverpool.

The England winger’s future has been one of the main talking points of the last few months but after endless speculation, he was unveiled as a City player on Tuesday having signed a five-year deal.

It means he can now concentrate on his football again and having joined for £49m, the highest ever fee for an English player, the time is right for him to start proving himself on the pitch.

On his day Sterling is undoubtedly a superb talent and that will only be exemplified by playing alongside the likes of Sergio Aguero, David Silva and Yaya Toure.

The 20-year-old admits he cannot wait to get started and feels that working alongside so many world class stars will only help him improve.

He told City’s official website: “The thing that excites me the most is the world class squad we have and knowing we have a team that is capable of winning things year in, year out.

“The more quality players that are around you, the more quality it brings out in you so I can’t wait to get started and play alongside them.”

Having failed to defend their Premier League title last term, the addition of Sterling will undoubtedly help the Citizens who are currently the favourites behind Chelsea to top the standings this time around.

Manuel Pellegrini’s men face a tricky task in the opening round of fixtures though, as they travel to West Brom, a game they are the 1.60 favourites to win, with the draw 4.00 and the Baggies 5.50.
