Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini is confident that his team can eventually win the UEFA Champions League.

The Citizens managed to reach the knockout stages last season but they were well beaten by Barcelona.

Before that, City had failed to qualify from the group stages and they will face a tough task this time around.

They have already been beaten by Bayern Munich in the competition this season, while Roma and CSKA Moscow are next up.

With the club doing well in the Premier League, the pressure is on to win the biggest competition in European football and Pellegrini is confident of doing so.

He said: “I am absolutely sure that Manchester City will eventually win the Champions League.

“Of course, it is not the most important title to win but when it happens – and it will – it will not mean that this project is finished.

“City don’t just want to win the Champions League once. The owners are aiming to become of those clubs that believes they can win it every year.

“That means reaching the final or the semi-final regularly – and also winning trophies like the Premier League, the FA Cup and the Capital One Cup.

“We have won the title twice in three years and we were also runners-up.”

City are currently 16.00 to win the Champions League with Dafabet, but their impressive squad could give them a great chance of going far in the competition.
