Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart wants Barcelona to secure Champions League glory when the Catalan giants take on Juventus in the final of the competition on Saturday.

The Citizens were knocked out of the competition by the Blaugrana and are yet to make it beyond the last-16 stage of the tournament in four attempts.

City were comprehensively defeated in both legs of their clash with Barca and their number one is hoping that their victors go on to seal glory in Berlin.

He said: “I hope they win the Champions League, and a lot of it will be down to [Lionel] Messi.

“We got beat quite comfortably over the two legs, it is fair to say. We battled hard to get to through the group stage and we didn’t really get to our full level.”

The 28-year-old believes that the two best sides have made it through to this year’s final and that City have a lot of work to do to establish themselves as one of the top clubs in Europe.

He added: “Juventus have done fantastically, these are the two top teams at the moment – we have got a long way to go but we are willing to work hard, we are a good club with great owners and the players want to do it in Europe as well.”

City ended the season without a trophy and finished a full eight points behind champions Chelsea in the Premier League table.

City are 3.75 second favourites to regain their league title, with Jose Mourinho’s men available at 2.38 to make it back-to-back title success in the Premier League.
