Daniel claims Liverpool’s players can handle the pressure of being in the Premier League title race and he feels the key to success this season will be securing home wins against rivals Chelsea and Manchester City.

Brendan Rodgers’s side have consistently been classed as outsiders in the battle for the title despite currently occupying second spot, seven points behind leaders Chelsea but with a game in hand.

Blues boss Jose Mourinho insists Manchester City are favourites given that they will reclaim top spot if they win their three games in hand, while Arsenal are still lurking in third spot level on points with Liverpool and on the same games.

But Agger feels Liverpool are right in the mix as they travel to Manchester United on Sunday looking to record a fifth successive Premier League win.

However, the 29-year-old Denmark defender is adamant that their hopes will rest on the outcome of games to come against Chelsea and Manchester City at Anfield between now and the end of the season.

Agger told the Liverpool Echo: “Part of playing for this club is being able to handle that pressure. I think the players here have proved over the course of this season that they are more than capable of doing that.

“We have had some great results and there have been a few times when we have been all the way up there at the top.”

He added: “We are in a good position but we are only in March. There is still a long way to go and a lot of points to play for.

“We haven’t achieved anything yet and we need to keep going over the final 10 games. We have some big games against teams close to us in the table. They are games we have to win.”

Liverpool are currently priced 7.00 to win the Premier League, Chelsea are 1.75 and Manchester City are 2.90.
