Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has offered his backing to under-fire coach Unai Emery.

Speculation has gathered pace regarding Emery’s future at the Parc des Princes following their elimination from the Champions League at the hands of Real Madrid last month.

The likes of Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte have been heavily linked with taking over the reins from Emery during the summer, but the 46-year-old did his chances of remaining in the role the world of good after guiding PSG to 3-0 victory over Monaco in the final of the Coupe de la Ligue on Saturday.

Les Parisiens are also on course to claim a fifth Ligue 1 title in six years, while they are through to the semi-finals of the Coupe de France where they will take on Caen later this month.

That strong domestic showing could ultimately keep Emery in his job and, following their Coupe de la Ligue success, Al-Khelaifi offered his full backing to the former Sevilla coach.

“Unai is our coach,” said Al-Khelaifi. “We support Unai. Each day, I see the names written behind Unai. However, it is he who is our coach and the whole club is behind him.

“We still have two trophies to win this season, Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France, and we will be able to focus on other objectives next season. But we want to win what we can still win this season.”
