Monaco defender Kamil Glik sees no reason why his side cannot reach the Champions League final.
Les Rouges et Blancs have been one of the surprise packages in this season’s competition, beating the likes of Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund en route to the semi-finals.
Juventus are the only team standing in the way of Leonardo Jardim’s side reaching the final of Europe’s premier club competition for the first time since 2004, and Poland international Glik is convinced his side can progress, although he concedes they are underdogs heading into the tie.
“It will not be easy but there’s no pressure on us,” he told Tuttosport. “I think every team was hoping to draw Monaco, but look how far we’ve come. I believe we can get to the final.
We’ll try to surprise everyone again.” The 29-year-old is likely to play a key role if Monaco are to progress through to the final, as he is expected to be tasked with stopping Juventus’ impressive forward line that contains Argentina international forwards Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain.
The striking duo have netted 46 goals between them in all competitions so far this season and Glik concedes he and his fellow defenders will have their work cut out dealing with the pair. “Dybala and Higuain are very important and we will try to contain them,” he added.
Monaco will host Juventus in the first leg of the tie at the Stade Louis II on May 3, before the return leg in Turin six days later. Jardim’s men are priced at 3.00 to secure a first-leg advantage on home soil, while Juve are available at 2.30 and the draw is on offer at 3.30.
