Kyle Walker says keeping it simple could be the key to Dele Alli helping Tottenham to success this season.

The midfielder won the PFA’s Young Player of the Year award last term following a brilliant maiden campaign at White Hart Lane but appeared to have lost confidence following England’s poor performance at Euro 2016.

However, he seems to have rediscovered his form in recent weeks and scored in Sunday’s 2-0 win over title rivals Manchester City.

Alli and Walker are currently preparing for England’s 2018 World Cup qualifiers with Malta and Slovenia and will expect to feature in both games before returning to domestic action against West Brom on October 15.

Spurs are 1.73 to win at the Hawthorns, with the draw 3.60 and the Baggies 4.75.

Walker himself was crowned Young Player of the Year for the 2011-12 campaign but injuries have meant he has endured differing fortunes since then and is keen for Alli to avoid a similar experience.

The defender believes keeping things simple will be the key to his team-mate continuing his ascent and helping Tottenham in their quest for trophies this term. “It’s vital,” Walker said.

“I can remember when I got the Young Player of the Year, to follow it on the next season makes you a very good player or a very average player. “He’s doing it tremendously well.

From a young age, the weight on his shoulders, he deals with it in his stride.

“He can express himself a little bit more, but I think he just needs to keep it simple sometimes, which the manager does tell him too.”
