Kevin Wimmer says he is looking forward to the next chapter of his career at Tottenham and believes White Hart Lane is the best place to develop his career.

Spurs moved quickly to snap up the 22-year-old when paying German side FC Koln £4.3million for his services and the central defender has high hopes for the future.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino hopes the Austria international will help patch up a defence that conceded 53 goals in 38 games last season and Wimmer believes White Hart Lane is the perfect place for him to progress.

“Tottenham is a really big club with a lot of tradition and is one of the biggest clubs in England,” he told reporters.

“I’ve been watching the Premier League ever since I was a small child and especially last season I saw a lot of Tottenham games.

“The atmosphere in the stadium was incredible and the supporters are very good and very emotional.

“It’s great to play in a stadium like that with the fans on your back and pushing you. I’m really looking forward to it and it’s a good place to be for young players.”

Wimmer has bags of experience for his tender years after starting 32 of Koln’s 34 Bundesliga fixtures last season but he will have to battle for his place in the Spurs side.

Jan Vertonghen, Eric Dier and Fazio battled it out for the two central defensive positions last season, but after conceding so many goals, Wimmer will be given the chance to stake a claim for a starting role.

Tottenham are currently priced 67.00 to win the Premier League next season.
