Kevin Mirallas insists the entire Everton squad are focused on getting their new Premier League campaign off to a winning start at home to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
Everton endured a topsy-turvy campaign last time out with the club managing to reach the semi-final stage in both the League Cup and FA Cup before being knocked out by Manchester City and Manchester United respectively.
The two cup runs had an adverse effect on the Toffees’ league form and the decision was made by the club’s hierarchy to sack Spaniard Roberto Martinez before the final game.
Dutch tactician Ronald Koeman has since been brought in as a replacement and the former Southampton boss will be looking to start his new reign with a good victory.
The Goodison Park-based outfit play host to Tottenham this weekend as the visitors aim to put together another strong challenge for the Premier League title.
Spurs were right in the hunt towards the end of the campaign but ultimately fell short of the mark, finishing third and 11 points behind champions Leicester City.
Belgium international Mirallas will be eyeing a more regular place in the first team this time, having made just 10 league starts, and he looking for three early points.
“It’s a great game to start because I think they were one of the best teams in the Premier League last season,” he told evertonfc.com.
“I hope we can have lots of success this season and, with a full stadium behind us, we can win the first game against Spurs.”
Everton are priced a 2.88 to pick up the win on home soil, a draw is 3.20 while Spurs are the slight favourites at 2.40.
