Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta dismissed rumors that squad to make big changes to improve next season.

Despite leading the La Liga standing by 11 points and closing in on another league trophy, the Catalans were heavily defeated by German outfit Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League semi-final, losing by 0-7 aggregate.

This has resulted in many speaking about the club needing new players and selling some of their stars in order to keep them competitive with the rest of Europe. However, the star midfielder believes they have a strong foundation and do not need too much work.

“When the players talk about needing changes, we are referring to things that would change the team for the better,” he said.

“I’m sure the core of the team is capable of competing and winning. We shouldn’t go crazy with the changes next year.”

Following their 4-2 win over Real Betis over the weekend, Barcelona need only a point to clinch their 22nd league title.

And if they clinch it against Atletico Madrid, Iniesta is hopeful that this can be a catalyst for the outfit to move forward next year.

He said: “It would be a good season if we win the league title. We’ll try to win it again next season. God willing we’ll be champions soon. There aren’t words to describe the value of a title like this.

“If the team suffers, the fans do as well, and vice versa. When we win titles it isn’t just for us, it’s also for the fans.”
