Hull City manager Mike Phelan has confirmed Scotland winger Robert Snodgrass could be the next player to join the club’s ever-growing injury list.

The former Livingston, Leeds United and Norwich star picked up a problem last weekend during the 2-0 defeat to Stoke at the KCOM Stadium.

Snodgrass was forced off the field and was seen leaving the ground on crutches, with Phelan still awaiting the results of a scan.

The Tigers are expected to be without Snodgrass for Tuesday’s EFL Cup clash with Bristol City at Ashton Gate and he will join Andrew Robertson (calf) and Dieumerci Mbokani (hamstring) on the sidelines.

Speaking ahead of the clash, Phelan said: “We have lost players to injury and might have lost another one. “But we have to look at (Tuesday night) to gain some confidence, some rhythm to take into the league.

We have a couple of promising young kids we will have a look at. Injuries are part of the game.”

Youngster Josh Tymon was on the bench for Saturday’s defeat and he could make his second appearance in the EFL Cup after playing against Exeter in August.

Club captain Michael Dawson could also play his part after completing 90 minutes last weekend following a long-term knee injury.

“It was important he didn’t come into a game where he felt he was playing catch-up,” Phelan said of Dawson. “Now he feels capable of playing for 90 minutes.”

Championship side Bristol are the 2.30 favourites to win, with the draw 3.40, while Hull are available at odds of 3.10.
