Gordon Greer is confident the hard work Blackburn have done on their defending can help them keep their first clean sheet of the season against Ipswich.

The Scot was one of a number of new arrivals at Ewood Park in the summer and has been busy trying to form a central defensive partnership alongside fellow recent signing Tommie Hoban.

However, Rovers are yet to keep a clean sheet in any of their 14 games so far this season, a statistic that perhaps demonstrates why they have struggled.

Saturday sees them host misfiring Ipswich, a side that have not scored in their last four Championship outings.

The international break has given both clubs a chance to work on their shortcomings and they will be desperate to put their hard work into action at Ewood Park.

Greer admits Blackburn’s fragility at the back has been a cause for concern but believes he and Hoban are now getting used to playing alongside each other, and is confident their first clean sheet is not too far away.

“As a defender you want shutouts and you’re judged on that,” he told the Lancashire Telegraph. “But I can tell you we’re doing everything we can to try and keep clean sheets.

“We feel we’ve been tighter and when we have lost we’ve not had many attempts at our goal. Sometimes in football that’s how it goes.

“Tommie has come in and done well. Our relationship is building. “We’re always talking and looking at different clips. We’re doing everything we can to keep as many clean sheets as possible.

Hopefully we’ll get our first one soon.” Blackburn are 2.50 to win the game, with the draw 3.10 and Ipswich are priced at 3.00.
