Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini has said his side ‘will definitely try’ to upset Inter in their trip to San Siro on Wednesday evening.
La Dea have been in solid form recently. Being under the experienced Italian tactician has been a positive thing for the team, and they have been in great form recently, not losing their last seven consecutive Serie A matches and they have also won five of their previous six games, only drawing Milan in a tense 1-1 last weekend.
Inter have won all their games in 2024, and they have been shining under Simone Inzaghi this term. The Nerazurri looked to be on track to lift their 20th Scudetto, having lost just one game in 25 league outings this season.
They will go into the clash full of confidence, having won their first meeting 2-1.
In a press conference via Calciomercato.com before the Wednesday meeting, Gasperini said Atalanta desired to upset Inter in their own backyard.
While admitting that his team’s sharpness was missing against Inter during their last meeting at the San Siro, the only place they have yet to manage to win, they are ready to try this time.
Hoping to create problems for the hosts, Gasperini lauded the Serie A leaders for doing “something extraordinary with quality play.”
“Tomorrow, the table will be final as it’s a catch-up game, we have little to lose, and it can be very favorable,” he said.
Reflecting on la Dea’s recent tense draw with Milan, he said getting a point off them was important.
On the Serie A standing, he noted that Bologna is within range, and there’s a match to recover.
Lauding his team’s performance against Milan, the tactician said it was a difficult with quality in defence.
Forgetting the game and focusing on Inter.
Le Dea will be able to hand Inter their first loss in 2024 tonight.
