Wales have broken into the top 10 of the Fifa world rankings for the first time in their history.

Chris Coleman’s side are closing in on qualification for Euro 2016 as they currently top Group B with a three-point lead over second-placed Belgium.

The top two sides qualify automatically from each group and the team in third place will get a chance via the play-offs.

Israel are third in Group B but are five points adrift of Wales with just four games remaining.

Wales enter the top 10 after talisman Gareth Bale’s strike earned a 1-0 win over Belgium in June in their last qualifier.

Wales have climbed 12 places to reach 10th in the rankings, one place behind England who have moved up six places to ninth.

England are also on course to reach Euro 2016 as they boast a 100% record in qualification after beating Slovenia 3-2 last month.

Argentina are currently ranked as the world’s best team by Fifa despite their recent Copa America final defeat to Chile on penalties earlier.

World champions Germany are the highest ranked European side in second place, with Belgium third ahead of Colombia and the Netherlands.

Brazil, Portugal and Romania complete the top 10 as Spain slip to 12th, while the French have dropped 13 places to 22nd ahead of Euro 2016 which they will host.

Wales are 81.00 to win Euro 2016 outright and England are 11.00.

Germany are 4.00 to take the title next summer and France can be backed at 4.75.
