Everton striker Romelu Lukaku is confident that he will soon start scoring goals for the club, once he is back to full fitness in the coming weeks.

Lukaku, 21.00 to finish as the Premier League’s top scorer, has yet to open his account this season after starting just one game in the league under Ronald Koeman.

The former Chelsea forward has struggled to maintain his fitness since returning from the European Championships with Belgium.

The 22-year-old was expected to leave the club in the transfer window after he confirmed he wanted to play in the UEFA Champions League once again.

He left the move to his agent Mino Raiola but the powerful forward ended up staying at Goodison Park after new owner Farhad Moshiri hired Koeman as the club’s new manager earlier this summer.

With Lukaku now set to stay for at least one more season, he insists he will find his magic touch in front of goal once fit.

When asked if his form had been affected by question marks over his future, Lukaku told Sky Sports News HQ: “Not at all. I left it all to my agent, he dealt with it.

“I just went on holiday and when I came back the last game before the season started I had an injury.

It kept me out for a long time. I couldn’t do anything with it.

“So now for me it’s just my pre-season phase so I’m working really hard to be 100 per cent fit.

As soon as I’m fit the goals will come for sure.”
